The More the Merrier

"The More the Merrier" - That is our family motto for April 2014. Our home has been filled with a lots of family and friends recently and we even spent time visiting the Evans in California as well.

Grandpa Evans was the first to visit and we had a great time watching General Conference and spending time together. Grandpa took great pictures of Eli, including this model shot:

One of Heather's best friends from Georgia, Nicole Convis, came to visit just as Grandpa left. We spent three days having a great time. We spent time at Sundance, Park City, City Creek Mall, and hiking South Fork. The weather was beautiful and we hiked so far that the green grass turned to white snow after not too long...but we had to keep going in order to discover "Big Springs". ...It ended up being completely covered in snow, but still beautiful.

Eli loves his hiking backpack on Mom and Dad's back -- he's gone on two big hikes in one week and was so comfortable this time around that he even took a nap during the hike.

We flew from Provo to LAX at the same time that Nicole flew home to Atlanta. When we got to Palm Deseret 4 hours later it was 100 degrees!

We spent the week at the pool, playing games, and spending time at the beach after we returned to Huntington Beach. Heather and I got a surprising amount of work done for Becoming Your Best and Arches Academy in between everything.

Eli loved watching the waves at the beach and spending time with Grandpa and Grandma. He especially liked the white foam the waves created.

We are grateful to have such amazing family and friends whom we can spend time with.

Temple Reunion

This week we went to the temple with our good friends from Chile and Paraguay--Raul, Lena, and Rodolfo. It was neat going there with such good friends! We're very glad they are here so we can get together every now and then.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Here are a few highlights from Meridian's spring musical. Heather directed the kids. Watch for the exceptionally gifted dancer in the yellow t-shirt. Alyssa, Brooke and Devin enjoyed sitting by his parents. Daniel, Mom, and Dad Shallenberger also were in the audience! Thanks for the support.

Memorial Weekend in California

After spending a wonderful Memorial weekend in Northern California we took the California Zephyr from Oakland to Provo. It was a fun experience. Before leaving, we loved spending time with grandpa and grandma Livingston in Atherton and with the Shallenbergers in Vallejo at the Shallenberger Family Reunion.

Highlights of Memorial Weekend:

-Learning that one of our relatives speaks Cherokee.
-Six Flags Platinum Passes
-Running a successful 5K along the Vallejo boardwalk for the Shallenberger Scholarship Fund.
-Playing Rummikub with grandma.
-Listening to grandpa's stories about Heber J. Grant.
-Eating dinner with the most "interesting" man ever! (He ate at least 12 packs of butter in front of us, had long bleached wild hair that went in all directions, especially up; and had the most incredible BO).
- Visiting the Oakland Temple with family.
-Seeing Tommy whom we haven't seen in a long time.
